Cheb Hasni: The last song

The feature length film "Cheb Hasni: The last song," recounting the life and career of singer Hasni, was premiered Thursday evening at the Zinet movie theatre of Ryad el-Feth (Algiers), in the presence of filmmaker Laïb Messaoud.

  • The 110-minute film is a biographical material relating the beginning of the artistic career of the singer, who will give a fresh impetus to Raï music style, and be named "Raï nightingale." The work sheds light on the singer's romantic life and his sensitivity.

  • The film, divided in eight 40-minute episodes, also focuses on "Gumbetta" district (Oran, 432km west of Algiers) where Hasni was living with his family, and on his elder brother, who was always close to him, as well as on his friends.
