Martine Le Coz talks about her 'meeting' with Emir Abdelkader

The human and spiritual qualities of Emir Abdelkader were highlighted by the French writer Martine Le Coz, who has written a book under the title ...The Garden of the East... in which she mentioned his imprisonment in the castle of Amboise (France) between 1848 and 1852.

• “Emir Abdelkader took me back to the basics of what human life is, of what human responsibility is. When one gets to the Emir Abdelkader, through writings on him, we feel each time growing spiritually,” said Le Coz Monday at a conference held in Algiers.

• “I came back sick from Burundi, where there was a war and it is only in discovering the strong human personality of Emir Abdelkader that I am healed,” said the conference speaker who emphasized on ‘the magnitude’ of the man, ‘a recognized highness even by the West.
