Katchou: Aures nightingale won’t sing any more
BATNA (Algeria)- the national art scene, particularly in the Aures is in mourning after the sudden death Wednesday after a traffic accident of the star of Chaoui music Ali Nasri, nicknamed Katchou who has left behind him a work composed of 14 albums inspired all from the local musical heritage.
- Born in 1963 in El-Madher in a conservative family of the “Ouled Chelih Tribe,” Katchou showed since his young childhood deep penchant for music and singing, say those who knew him. As a child, he usually hummed, they say, the popular songs of the region which then permeate all his art in spite of the innovations he introduced.
- He Remained modest and closer to people, he led to the discovery and encouragement of several young talents.
Katchou who left behind a wife and three children always chose “correct” words for his songs such as his hit success with "Nouara", “Hemi hemi”, and “Agoujil” (the orphans).
This is the last song with which Katchou began his artistic career in the 1980s within the troupe “Faziri” alongside the artist Salim Souhali.
Singer in music festivals in Algeria but also abroad, Katchou was an ambassador of modern Chaoui song even sang in the legendary hall of the Olympia in Paris.
Surprised by the call of fate, the late singer of the Aures musical heritage was preparing a new album that he wanted "innovative" and an operetta about the life of the late Colonel Haj Lakhdar, one of the leaders of the liberation war in Aures.
Katchou also participated in the operetta "El-Waad" and the national artistic caravan to the holy places of Islam. - He was an agricultural investor and has also launched a project of environmental tourism in conjunction with the National Park of Belezma.
A large crowd accompanied Katchou to his final resting place at Hamla in Batna.
