"Avatar" heads the box office in North America
LOS ANGELES - "Avatar", the sci-fi super production tinged of Ecology, by James Cameron has kept heading at the box office in North America this weekend, cumulating in a month more than 430 million dollars in revenue according to figures of box office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
- James Cameron 3D Fresco has yet received 50.3 million dollars in revenue this weekend. Only 27% less than the previous weekend: a remarkable achievement at this level of revenue and after four weeks of operation.
The film cost nearly $ 500 million - 300 million for production and 200 million for marketing - and has already far exceeded the billion dollars of revenue worldwide.
Also in 2nd place, the action film "Sherlock Holmes", directed by Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr. who plays the famous detective and Jude Law the faithful Dr. Watson, harvesting 16.6 million dollars (165 million after three weeks on screen).
With 16.6 million over the weekend and 178.4 million since its release, the squirrels of children's film "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2" also retain their rank in 3rd position.
