Ghaza Four Palestinians wounded by Israeli gunfire
Ghaza - At least four Palestinians were wounded, two seriously, on Saturday morning in the southern Ghaza strip during exchanges of fire with Israeli forces, according to Palestinian emergency services.
- Two of the injured are members of the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the other two belong to al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed group linked to Fatah party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the same source said without giving their identities.
- Witnesses said the firefght took place in the eastern town of Khan Younis.
In a joint statement issued in Ghaza, the PFLP and the al-Aqsa Brigades said that their men had "attacked with RPGs four jeeps of the Israeli army, and the latter then retaliated by firing at machine gun from a helicopter assault and firing tank shells. - Questioned by AFP, a military spokesman has said on his side that "Israeli soldiers spotted the silhouettes approaching the security fence separating the Ghaza strip and fired in their direction."
- An Israeli soldier was wounded Thursday in the same area by the explosion of an ROV, the spokesman said.
