ILLIZI (Algeria)- The first "Tamanasset" (traditional cup of water in Tifinagh) music and dance festival, kicked off Saturday at the sports complex of In-Amenas

• The first "Tamanasset" (traditional cup of water in Tifinagh) music and dance festival, kicked off Saturday at the sports complex of In-Amenas in the province of Illizi (2000 km south of Algiers). Organizers were keen on matching this cultural event with the annual celebration of 24th February, the anniversary of the nationalization of hydrocarbons, it was said. The opening ceremony, which was preceded by the parade of participating troops in traditional costumes, attracted a large audience. Folk groups from Tamanrasset, El Oued, In-Salah, Timimoun and Bordj Badji Mokhtar, will feature in Sunday’s evening show.
