Bollywood, "the most beautiful love story ever told"
PARIS - A film combining the finest moments in the history of musical cinema of India, "Bollywood's most beautiful love story ever told," will be shown out of competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival (11-22 May) organizers said Friday.
- Produced exclusively for the Cannes Film Festival by filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor, juror 2010, the film combines emblematic footage of Bollywood, to pay tribute to this genre, "which helped establish the identity of India worldwide and made of Mumbai one of the world capitals of the history of cinema," according to Cannes Film Festival.
- "Love it or hate it, either we identify it something rearguard or definitively modern, we can not do without. But with it, you feel more alive than ever," said Shekhar Kapoor.
- "We have a saying that's the only culture capable of uniting all Indians. For several decades, it is a fever that has overwhelmed all generations. It's Bollywood," he adds.
- Bollywood, the most beautiful love story ever told" was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Jeff Zimbalist.
