Charter of gas producing countries
The gas exporting countries have adopted the charter of the new Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG) which will be headquartered in Qatar, announced Tuesday the Russian Energy Minister Sergei Chmatko.
- "A new company is born today. The charter was adopted. The headquarters will be in Qatar," said Chmatko at the end of a meeting in Moscow of energy ministers of the major exporting countries gas in the world.
The FPEG was previously an informal organization bringing together more or less the main holders of gas reserves. But it is not comparable to OPEC, a cartel with the statutes and whose decisions are binding on all members.
