LYON (France) - The Algerian state is a civil party in the course of an open investigation in France on a large case of counterfeiting, which led in October to the dismantling of a network of manufacturers of counterfeit Algerian dinars in Lyon, according to the newspaper « Liberation. »

  •    Contacted by AFP Saturday, the prosecutor of Lyons (east central) was not able to confirm this information.

Presented by the newspaper as the largest case of counterfeiting in recent years, this traffic could be be of a total of 15 billion Algerian false dinars false, i.e. 152 million Euros.

This sum corresponds to the number of tickets that can be printed from 44 rolls of cash made in Germany and for the Bank of Algeria: the rolls were stolen in November 2006 in Marseille (southern France) during the attack of the German truck, shortly before he delivers to a carrier, the source said.

After several months of investigation in Italy and France, a network of 14 manufacturers of counterfeit dinars was dismantled late October 2009 in Lyon. The French police also seized during this operation "four roller" of cash paper stolen in 2006 from a printing house of the city.

This dismantling has led to the opening of a French judicial investigation and it was then, according to « Liberation, » that the Algerian government has contacted the judge handling the case for a civil action in this matter, "as a victim"

"It was expected that they do, but I can not confirm they are actually civil parties," said Saturday a judicial source in Lyon.

According to « Liberation, » the traffic would mean the Italian mafia and thirty rolls of paper would still be missing.
