Algeria: meeting of the 7 members of the IMF and WB on the global crisis
Finance ministers of Algeria and six other members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) analyzed in Algiers Saturday the impact of the global economic crisis on their economies, said the 'Algerian agency APS.
- The meeting brought together finance ministers and central bank governors of the country to which Algeria belongs within the World Bank and IMF in the preparation of the spring meetings of financial institutions, according to APS.
Besides Algeria, the group includes Afghanistan, Ghana, Iran, Morocco, Pakistan and Tunisia.
These meetings usually held in Washington on the sidelines of annual meetings of these two international financial institutions are held now in every country member of that group, said the Bank of Algeria.
The meeting has been especially devoted to the impact of the global economic crisis on the economies of these countries in September, according to APS.
The participants also discussed "the issue of governance and reform of the financing facilities of the IMF as well as related the strengthening of the representation within the governing bodies of the WB and the facilities put in places in this institution to help countries cope with the crisis (World) , said the Bank of Algeria, according to APS.
