Renault Algeria: We're not ready to go!

"Renault is still there and will remain there because Algeria is a booming country," says the spokeswoman of the CEO of Renault Algeria.

  • Algiers- Amel Boutamène, spokeswoman for the CEO of Renault Algeria, said that following the recent riots, a lot of damage was recorded at Renault agencies in different regions of the country. Despite this, she adds, Renault is still there and will remain there because Algeria is a booming country.
  • According to the spokeswoman of Renault Algeria, enormous damage is to be deplored at several points of sale (POS) in the greater Algiers. These are Baïnem, Bab El Oued, Zeralda, Les Sources in addition to Batna.
  • Despite the extent of damage caused by rioters during these events that have rocked several parts of Algeria, Renault officials plan to stay. Even better, they intend to strengthen their presence on the Algerian automobile market and broaden the scope of their investment, mainly in the case the major project of the Renault plant in Algeria comes to be realized.
  • She added that Renault Algeria officials do not seem to be affected by the damage caused by acts of vandalism that have also affected several other public and private companies.
  • According to the spokesman for Renault, 98% of the workforce employed by the company is Algerian, i.e. 1950 employees, including 1500 at retail POS and 450 in administration. Renault is working with 50 Algerian companies.
