Partial strike at Arcelor Mittal in Annaba
ALGIERS - Workers of ArcelorMittal Annaba, Algeria subsidiary of global giant in the steel industry, have begun an indefinite general strike Saturday, told AFP Saturday their spokesman Smain Kouadria.
- "About 1,000 of the approximately 6,600 employees that make up the complex Arcelor-Mittal observe ageneral limitless strike since Saturday," said Kouadria, general secretary of the company’s union.
"It's a strike in cascade. Today, it is the workers responsible for shipping the finished products that havestopped working. They will be followed Sunday by administration employees and then by those of blast furnaces", he said.
Arcelor Mittal workers demand the reopening of negotiations on salary increases, according to Mr. Kouadria. - Ennaharonline/ M. O.
