Swine flu in Israel
A second case of swine flu was confirmed Tuesday in Israel with a 49-year-old Israeli recently returned from Mexico, announced the Israeli radio a few hours after official confirmation of a first case.
- The man was hospitalized since Monday in a Kfar Saba near Tel Aviv after having returned from Mexico, according to the radio.
A first case of swine flu in Israel was confirmed a few hours earlier in a young Israeli who also recently returned from a visit to Mexico and had been hospitalized Sunday.
Indeed, the virus has been detected in this man, Tomer Vajime, said a spokeswoman for the hospital Laniado of Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, where this man is hospitalized.
A niece of this patient five-year-old was placed under observation Tuesday in the same hospital for fear that she is also affected by the virus.
These are the first two cases of swine flu confirmed in the Middle East.
