Morocco: 08 suspected terrorists brought before justice
Eight people suspected of belonging to a terrorist cell dismantled on May 12 were presented Wednesday to the public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Rabat by the judicial police, according to the Moroccan press agency MAP.
- Dubbed ‘Jamaat Al Mourabitine Al Jodod’( 'the Group of new fighters'), the cell was present in different cities of Morocco and was planning attacks, according to this source.
The suspects are being prosecuted for constitution of criminal gang to prepare and commit terrorist acts in conjunction with a collaborative project that is seriously prejudicial to public order through terror, intimidation and violence, said the MAP, quoting a police source.
The defendants should be presented before a magistrate in charge of terrorist cases in Sale, twin city of Rabat.
The eight suspects, who were spun for a very long time, were arrested in Guelmim (about 280 km south of Agadir) Laayoune (Western Sahara) and Boujdour (180 km south of Laayoune). - Ennaharonline/ AFP
