The virus of swine influenza is subtle and insidious

The virus A (H1N1) of swine influenza is ...subtle and insidious... and may be more virulent in the poorest countries of the southern hemisphere, warned Friday the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO).

•     Dr Margaret Chan addressed the 193 WHO Member States, meeting in Geneva for the closing session of the Annual Meeting of the organization after a week of work dominated by the threat of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) .
  
      The virus has infected 11,168 people in 42 countries and has caused 86 deaths, according to the latest balance sheet published by WHO Friday.
