International terrorism, still a serious threat
...International terrorism still have a significant offensive capability and its radicalization causes a particular concern,... said Saturday the G8 countries in their final declaration adopted in Rome after a two-day meeting.
- “The threat analysis shows that international terrorist groups maintain a significant offensive capability and demonstrate an important organizational flexibility, adapting their structure to different contexts,” notes the press release.
“The constant ability of radicalization and recruitment generated by international terrorism raises particular concern,” says the document.
The Ministers of Interior and Justice of the G8 remind that despite the efforts and successes of the international community in the fight against this evil, terrorism is still one of the most serious threats against international security.
In this context the anti-terrorism cooperation between the G8 countries, Italy, the United States, France, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Japan and Russia, is essential and it is important to continue to strengthen it.
“The exchange of operational information on financial flows of terrorist groups will be very important,” said Italian Minister of Justice, Angelino Alfano, presenting the final document.
The G8 ministers also adopted two declarations, one on the fight against piracy and the other on paedophilia on the Internet.
