Morocco: Abbas El Fassi reappointment head of government
King Mohammed VI of Morocco renewed Saturday his confidence in Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, weakened the day before by the passage in the opposition of one of the parties in the government coalition, according to an official source.
- “King Mohammed VI renewed his confidence in Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, and his government,” said early Saturday afternoon a short release sent by the press agency MAP.
Friday, Secretary General of Authenticity and Modernity Party (AMP) Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah said that the political bureau of his party, which has 46 MPs in the House of Representatives (of 325), withdrew his support for the governments majority and positioned now in opposition.
AMP said that several of his candidates in local elections of June 12 had experienced difficulty in validating their applications by the prefectures, which depend to the Ministry of Interior.
AMP was founded in 2008 by former Minister for the Interior Fouad Ali El Himma, considered a friend of Mohammed VI.
