  • The ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform has announced the stepping up of health measures concerning the swine influenza A (H1N1) virus, after the pandemic alert was raised to level six by the World Health Organisation (WHO), a ministry's communiqué said on Thursday.

  • The health measures are aimed at "limiting the risks of importing the new virus to Algeria, detecting as early as possible the arrival in the national territory of the first cases of human infection to put in place the first measures to stop or slow down local transmission," the sources added.
