Mauritania recalls her ambassador in Israel

Mauritania, one of the few Arab League countries to have diplomatic relations with Israel, has "decided to recall her ambassador in Israel, to protest against the Israeli offensive in Gaza, according to a declaration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania.

•     "The Islamic Republic of Mauritania has decided to recall for consultations her ambassador in Israel since this day" Monday, said a source at the ministry.
  
      For several days, thousands of demonstrators demanded Nouakchott to end the diplomatic relations between the two countries, initiated in 1999.
