An A310 disappeared between Yemen and Comoros with 147 passengers
PARIS- An Airbus A310 of Yemenia airline, carrying passengers from Paris and Marseille, has disappeared on Monday night between Yemen and Comoros with 147 passengers on board, according to an airport source.
- The plane would be “damaged at sea a few miles from the Comorian coast while it was in landing phase,” said this source, without further precision.
An A330-200 of the company had taken off from Roissy Monday at 09.14 am (07.14 am GMT), according to the website of Paris Airport (ADP), and went to Marseilles, then Sanaa in Yemen. In Sanaa, the passengers changed the plane to board an A310, according to airport sources.
The A310 took off for Djibouti and Moroni, the Comoros, where it would arrive Tuesday at 01:00 am Paris time (23:00 GMT Monday). The aircraft disappeared from radar screens, according to this source.
This is the flight IY 749, according to the ADP website.
A crisis cell was activated in Paris Roissy airport shortly after 05.00 am (03.00 am GMT), according to airport sources.
The nationality of passengers on board is unknown, but according to the same source, “there might be French.” Of the 147 people on board, 67 had boarded in Roissy.
An Airbus of Air France was damaged at sea between Brazil and France on 1 June with 228 people on board.
