Suspected French Islamists expelled from Egypt
CAIRO (Egypt) - About twenty suspected French Islamists were expelled from Egypt since a month; according to a security source.
- “Twenty French Muslim extremists who were arrested during the investigation into the attack in Cairo in February, which killed a young French woman, were gradually expelled,” said one head of security.
This official, who requested anonymity, said that “no charges were brought against them” but they are considered undesirable religious extremists in Egypt.
Questioned by AFP, the French Consulate merely stated that “a number of French people were arrested, among other foreigners and they were asked to leave Egypt at their own expense and without prosecution.”
