WASHINGTON- U.S. President Barack Obama left Washington Sunday night for Moscow, where he hopes to advance Start a new treaty on nuclear arms and an agreement on the transit of U.S. military equipment through Russian territory.

  •     The presidential plane Air Force One took off from the military base of Andrews, a suburb of Washington. The arrival of Mr. Obama in Moscow is scheduled for 1.20 pm (09.20 am GMT) Monday.

The visit of Mr. Obama in Moscow aims to boost bilateral relations that had deteriorated under his predecessor, George W. Bush.

The American president and his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev are expected to announce Monday of progress towards nuclear arms and an agreement on Afghanistan, reflecting the will of the two powers to overcome the recent serious quarrels.
