- The Swiss hostage abducted on January 22 in Niger by Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (Aqmi), Werner Greiner, was released Sunday in northern Mali, according to local authorities in Mali.
“The Swiss hostage was freed, he is very tired and will soon join his family in Passing via Bamako”, said a source close to the local authorities in the north.
Werner Greiner was released in the desert north of the country; the authorities had “recovered” the hostage in the region of Gao.
