Iraq: Three U.S. soldiers killed in Basra

BAGHDAD- Three American soldiers were killed Thursday in an attack against a U.S. base in Basra, southern Iraq, announced Friday the U.S. military.

•     “Three soldiers of the south multinational division were killed when the operational base in Basra was attacked by indirect fire at about 9:15 pm (6:15 pm GMT),” said a statement from the army.
  
      The army describes the firing of mortar shells as “indirect fire”.
  
      A total of 4326 American soldiers have died since the American invasion of Iraq in March 2003, according to a review by the AFP from the independent website icasualties.org.
