Lebanon: Hezbollah threatens Israel in case of attack

  •     "If Barak threats are serious, and I think they are not, he must know that if he commits a mistake or a stupid act against Lebanon, he will discover that the months of July and August 2006 were a mere joke," said Hachem Safieddine, Executive Chairman of the Board of Hezbollah.

Thursday, the Israeli Minister of Defense Ehud Barak said his country will use all its power against the infrastructure of Lebanon if a conflict broke out with that country.

In the summer of 2006, following the kidnapping by Hezbollah of two soldiers at the border between Lebanon and Israel, the Jewish State led the Shiite movement against a war of 34 days after which it is unable to neutralize.

"Today, we are strong, and because we are through the victory in 2006, we believe that the Israeli threats are insignificant," said the leader of Hezbollah.

The 2006 war claimed more than 1,200 killed, mostly civilians, the Lebanese side and 160 Israelis dead, mostly soldiers.

The arsenal of Hezbollah would have tripled since the conflict, with 42,000 missiles that could reach central areas of Israel, according to the Hebrew state, which fears that the "party of God" is in possession of last generation missiles that would have supplied Syria and Iran.

In late July, the Chief of Staff of Israel, General Gaby Ashkenazi, has ruled out a military escalation with Lebanon while stressing the "seriousness" that Israel took for the storage of arms by Hezbollah.

The British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Ivan Lewis who visited Beirut said Thursday that his country was "very concerned" by the "important" weapon store of the Shiite movement.
