Mahmoud Abbas re-elected head of Fatah movement
BEITLEHEM (West Bank) – President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas pledged in a statement after his re-election Saturday as head of Fatah movement to "liberate the land of Palestine and its people from Israeli occupation."
- "We say to everyone that Fatah holds a national project and a clear vision" of the Palestinian issue. "We started the battle and we will end it up by establishing an independent State," said the Palestinian president on the fifth day of the Congress of Fatah movement held in Bethlehem in the West Bank for the first time since 1989.
- The some 2,000 delegates attending the congress voted unanimously by hands show for Abbas, said the president of Congress, Othman Abu Gharbiyah.
