GHAZA: 1010 DEAD AND 4700 INJURED

- The results of the ongoing Zionist agression of Gaza, after 19 days, exceeded 1000 deaths, while a diplomatic issue is proposed by Egypt for a cease-fire. The death toll has reached 1010 and more than 4700 wounded, according to the latest news provided to AFP late in the day by the head of emergency services in Gaza, Hassanein Mouawiya.

•     The number has risen after the death of at least 20 Palestinians in new attacks and fighting, the death of some injured and recover abandoned bodies, explained the medical sources.
  
      The most violent fighting took place in the suburbs of Gaza City and in the northern Palestinian territory.
  
      At least 315 children and 100 women were among the dead from the Israeli offensive launched on 27 December with the aim of forcing the Islamist movement Hamas which controls Gaza to stop firing rockets into Israeli territory.
  
      While the death toll grows in Gaza, Egypt announced that Hamas had ‘reacted positively’ to his efforts for a cease-fire.
  
     ‘Hamas has responded positively to the Egyptian efforts to end the bloodshed of Palestinians during the talks’ held in Cairo last three days,’ said an Egyptian source to the semi-official agency « Mena. »
  
      The head of the Egyptian diplomacy, Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that Egypt would send to Israel the response of Hamas, ‘hoping that things will change.’ The Israeli envoy on this issue, Amos Gilad, is expected Thursday in Cairo.
