Afghanistan: At least 10 killed in suicide attack
KABUL - At least 10 people, including civilians and government officials, were killed Wednesday in a suicide bombing outside a mosque in eastern Afghanistan, authorities said.
- The bomber detonated the bomb he carried with him near the Grand Mosque in the city of Mihtarlam, the capital of Laghman province east of Kabul.
"There was a suicide bombing outside the mosque of Mihtarlam. There is a significant number of dead civilians. Several government officials were also killed," said the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Zemarai Bashary.
According to a spokesman of the Ministry of Health, at least ten dead and 36 wounded were taken to several local hospitals.
A spokesman for the provincial governorate, Sayed Ahmad Safai said that the attack had "caused more than 20 deaths and more injuries."
