Ahmadinejad: "The Holocaust is a myth"

TEHRAN- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the Holocaust a "myth" in a speech Friday during an annual day of solidarity with the Palestinians, reiterating remarks that prompted outrage around the world.

  •     "The very existence of this regime is an insult to the dignity of peoples," the hardline president said in reference to Israel, sworn enemy Iran.

"They (Westerners) have launched the myth of the Holocaust. They lied, they have their play and then they supported the Jews. If you claim that the Holocaust is a reality, why not allow a study? " he said before the faithful crowd who chanted "Death to Israel" at Tehran University for the Al-Quds-day (Jerusalem).

"The pretext for establishing the Zionist regime is a lie which is based on a dubious claim, an mythical assertion, and the occupation of Palestine has nothing to do with the Holocaust he said.

He said "the days of this regime (Israel) are counted and it is on the verge of collapse. The regime is dying."

The Iranian president has repeatedly denied the extent and even the reality of the extermination of Jews by the Nazis during the Second World War.

Iran does not recognize the existence of Israel and Ahmadinejad has predicted many times in recent years the disappearance of Israel. In 2005 he called to erase Israel from the map".

Ahmadinejad is a confused man how can he deny the existance of the holocaust. Only the fools have the audacity to jettison the holocaust and hence is part of the few who are not good thinkers

Ahmadinejad has every right to say what he believes is correct according to his beliefs, culture and way of life. Attempting to force, manipulate, re-engineer history to suit his point of view is another matter. I feel for the man because he is a product of his own making and environment. Ear bashing other countries, their way of life and the history and cultures of another race is a sad day for a man who is a leader of a country whose roots go back to the days of old and so ancient that one would think that history cannot be changed or re engineered. Truth has a way of coming out into the open, no matter how many disguises and layers of myths are placed upon it. Iran wants to become a player in the world, then let them join the world and as a result they must act responsibly just like all other nations who come of age realise the enormous responsibility that they have to bear in making this world of ours a better place. ahmadinejad and other like minded fellows
believe and remember the history only up
to the point of their convenience.they
never accept attrocities committed in the
name of god by their forebears as true.
but they have no doubt about crusades.

The Shah of Iran should think about canning this guy for the good of Iran. Even if Ahmadinejad thinks of the Holocaust as a myth you'd think he'd be wise enough to the rest of the world's "misapprehension" for political gain, if nothing else. Yet he doesn't even grasp the basic dynamics going that far.

Iran deserves better and the Shah should exercise his power.
