Three Spaniards kidnapped in Mauritania
DAKAR - The three Spaniards kidnapped Sunday in north-western Mauritania belong to an association of Barcelona which arranges the transport of humanitarian aid to West Africa, according to a member of this association Dakar.
- "They are cooperating members in the association ‘Barcelona Accio Solidaria,’ which are part of the ‘Caravana Solidaria" (solidarity caravan), said Sunday evening the Spanish humanitarian Montse Bosch, who could speak by phone from Dakar with members of the convoy in Mauritania.
"The three people were abducted in the latest small car, at the rear of the large convoy of a dozen large trucks and some cars" on the Nouadhibou-Nouakchott road, said Ms. Bosch.
"A group of armed men stopped them and took them, leaving their vehicles on site, without touching the equipment, baggage and money that the car contained," she added.
The purpose of the "Caravana Solidaria" shall include transportation to West Africa Catalan NGOs material with projects in Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia or Guinea-Bissau.
