iSlate, Apple’s latest creation
NEW YORK - Apple will introduce January 27 its latest creation "probably its long-awaited tablet computer touch screen connected to the internet named “iSlate" and whose followers want to believe it will revolutionize computing.
- Last dated coquetry, the American brand Apple on Monday sent a cryptic invitation to a "special event" Wednesday, January 27 at Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco (California) in order to reveal "its latest creation, which for industry observers would be this tablet.
According to a note from the brokerage AVI Securities, quoted by the website Cnet Technology News, the tablet is already "in full production.”
Designed to fill a void, both in terms of price and functions, between the segment of multifunction phones like the iPhone and laptops like the MacBook, the new product should be presented as an electronic screen in one piece, without command buttons and touch only.
It allows, not only surfing the Internet but, also downloading music, videos and books.
The new product already triggers the passions. It is the subject of blogs dedicated as iSlate.org.
A news site in Silicon Valley, Valleywag.com, even launched last week a "treasure hunt" promised up to 100,000 dollars to anyone who could prove the existence of the famous tablet.
A daring which did not make laugh Apple, who has responded Friday with a letter signed by one of his lawyers, accusing the site to encourage the "theft of Industrial secrets" and demanding the withdrawal of the offer.
The manufacturer, led by its chief guru Steve Jobs knows "more than any other company in consumer products play the secret to raise expectations and ensure a high demand even before the launch of its products," said Carmy Levy, an independent technology analyst.
For Apple, which revolutionized how to listen and buy music with its iPod digital music player and its iTunes software, and mobile phones by creating their iPhone to innumerable applications, is whether the feat will be renewed.
"Although the slates and tablets (tablets without buttons) are in the trade for over 15 years, they have failed to capture the attention of consumers," says Levy Carmy.
Apple's goal with this new machine is to succeed where others have failed.
According to the website of The Wall Street Journal Monday, the publisher Harper Collins is in negotiations with Apple to make available digitized books on the shelf, which would make it a direct competitor to Amazon's Kindle. Com.
If the fans are already conquered, the question is whether a wider audience will follow Apple in this new direction, "and whether there enough ‘Common’ consumers willing to pay 800 dollars for a product whose characteristics are still a biggest secret of the technology sector, "concludes Carmy Levy.
