AU Summit: ITCs on the agenda

ABABA (Ethiopia)- Proceedings of the 14th ordinary session of African Union (AU) Summit got underway Sunday in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), with the participation of Heads of State and Government of AU member countries.

• The summit will focus on information and communication technology (ICT): challenges and prospects for development in Africa. African leaders should adopt a declaration on the theme of ICT and their role in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). A report prepared by the AU Communications Department had defined ICT as an important vehicle in poverty alleviation in the continent.
