Desecration of a mosque in France

LYON (France) - racist graffiti and swastikas were discovered Monday on the walls of the mosque in Saint-Etienne in central France, which is under construction, said the Rector and prefectural source.

•    Abusive registrations as " France for the French", "No Arabs here" or "Heil Hitler" and swastikas were discovered at 06:00 am (0500 GMT) by faithful, said chief of staff of the prefect, Sebastian Lime.

     A police investigation was opened, he said. The future president-rector of the mosque, Larbi Marchiche said Monday he would complaint in the "afternoon".
• The Prefect  visited the site.

     Several mosques and Muslim cemeteries have been desecrated in recent years in France, including the square of the Muslim military cemetery of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, near Arras (North), whose graves were damaged or destroyed three times since 2007.
