Earthquake of magnitude 5.7 in south-western Mexico

WASHINGTON - A magnitude 5.7 earthquake occurred Monday night in south-western Mexico, said the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS).

  • WASHINGTON - A magnitude 5.7 earthquake occurred Monday night in south-western Mexico, said the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS). 

       The quake occurred at 6 :47 pm local time (00:47 GMT Tuesday) at 35 km deep in the land at a distance of 22 km from the city of Miahuatlan in the state of Oaxaca (south). 

       To measure the power of an earthquake, the USGS uses the "moment magnitude (Mw). On this open scale, an earthquake reaching a magnitude of at least 6 is considered strong.

Nice try. This picture must be from Haiti because in Mexico a 5.7 is nothing, buildings are resistant. Including streets. Besides, the crack depicted above is old, there are even plants growing in it.
