Bududa (Uganda) - "We die, we die!" Shouted Elina Namasa seeing the torrent of mud slide down to her house. But the young woman and her baby survived, miraculously saved from the landslide that killed at least 81 dead in eastern Uganda.

  •    With the face swollen, Elina, 18, says on her bed in Bududa modest clinic, the chief local place, how she literally saw the drama reach the threshold of her house.
"I was in my house and I heard a noise. I looked outside and saw the mud all around us. I cried we die, we die," she recalls.
"Everyone with whom I was perished. All except me and my baby," says the young woman, listing the names of eleven relatives she believes died.
"I spent three hours in the mud before being rescued. I was buried and I could hear people dig. I shouted at them not there, here! And they could hear me. They went at it with energy they took me out of there. "
Elina owes hers survival to the speed with which the first rescue teams have found a few hours after the mudslide that buried the night of Monday to Tuesday three villages of this mountainous country of eastern Africa.
