Greece: 4.3 magnitude earthquake off the island of Evia
ATHENS - A quake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded Tuesday morning at sea between the islands of Evia and Skopelos, north of Athens without causing damage, said the Geodynamic Institute of Athens Observatory.
- The epicenter of the quake, recorded at 04:55 am local (02:55 GMT), was located 100 km north of central Athens, where the earthquake was felt.
According to seismologists, a first quake of 4 Richter had occurred an hour earlier with the same epicenter, a phenomenon described as routine for that area.
Greece is the most exposed European country to earthquakes, with half of the earthquakes recorded on the continent. - Ennaharonline/ M. O.
