RABAT - At least ten people died Tuesday in different regions of Morocco following diluiviennes rains that have caused these days of floods and landslides, according to the authorities.

  •    Seven people were killed Tuesday by drowning in the flood of a river crossing the village Ait Hammou Abdessalam in Ksiba (250 km south of Rabat), told AFP a local official, interviewed in the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
"Six other people were injured in the collapse of two houses built of mud on the banks of the river," added the source.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have also caused the deaths of three people Tuesday in the town of Taza (north-east) and Midelt (center), reported the Moroccan press agency MAP.
Precipitation which continued to fall for several weeks in Morocco have also caused extensive material damage: collapsed houses, destroyed bridges and cut electricity. Thousands of hectares of crops have been flooded, roads cut and many families displaced and housed in shelters.
Tuesday, more than 400 houses in Khenifra, a mountainous town in the Middle Atlas (center), were flooded, according to MAP.
In February, the rains had already killed a dozen people washed away by floods.
