Afghanistan: Iranian President Ahmadinejad in Kabul
KABUL - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Kabul Wednesday to meet his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai, told AFP the Afghan presidency.
- "President Ahmadinejad arrived a few minutes ago," said Siamak Hirawi, a spokesman for the Afghan presidency.
MM. Ahmadinejad and Karzai "will discuss bilateral relations between our two countries, development of economic relations, projects that Iran must realize in the future in Afghanistan as the railway line between Tajikistan and Iran via Afghanistan, and other similar projects," said Hirawi.
This is the first meeting between the two leaders since their re-election in 2009.
Iranian president is making his visit while U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, is since Monday in Afghanistan. - Ennaharonline/ M. O.
