USA: an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 shakes Los Angeles

WASHINGTON - An earthquake measuring 4.4 rocked Tuesday morning the region of Los Angeles, said the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS), but no damage or casualties were immediately reported.
- The earthquake occurred at 4:04 a.m. local time (11:04 GMT) at a depth of 18 km and the epicenter was located 2 miles from Pico Rivera, a suburb southeast of Los Angeles, according to the website of 'USGS.
To measure the power of an earthquake, the USGS uses the "moment magnitude (Mw). On this open scale, an earthquake reaching a magnitude of at least 6 is considered strong. - Ennaharonline/ M. O.
