Morocco won’t yield an "inch of the Sahara"
RABAT - Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who is celebrating the 11th anniversary of his accession to the throne, said that Morocco "will not cede an inch of its Sahara" in a speech broadcast to the nation Friday.
- "Morocco remains committed to its sovereignty" over Western Sahara and "will not budge one inch of the Sahara," he said.
- The monarch also stressed that Algeria "goes against the logic of history", referring to "the sovereignty" of the kingdom on that territory.
- A former Spanish colony, Western Sahara was annexed in 1975 by Morocco, which offers a wide autonomy to end the conflict. Rabat Refuses independence unlike the Polisario Front, backed by Algeria.
