Riot at a prison north of Cairo, avoidance of thousands of prisoners

CAIRO - Thousands of prisoners have escaped from the prison of Wadi Natron, 100 km north of Cairo, said Sunday a source in the security services on the 6th day of a revolt against the regime of President Hosni Mubarak .
- Thousands of prisoners, including a large number of Islamist prisoners detained for several years, as well as common law prisoners, escaped in the night after a riot during which they seized weapons from the prison guards, the source said.
