For socialists in the PS, switch to the left of the Senate announces a victory in the next spring, while the UMP ruling party, tries to relativize the impact of the vote and keep confidence in his presidential candidate, Nicolas Sarkozy. - Alain Juppe, on his side, said that the setback in the Senate was due to the divisions within the UMP party. He called this latter to overcome this ordeal before the next elections.
- President Sarkozy is already disturbed by the case of political funding and the loss of the Senate is a warning before the presidential elections in next April and May.
