The return of the French ambassador Eric Chevallier coincides with that of U.S. Ambassador Robert Ford, who is expected in the evening in Damascus. The latter had left Damascus in late October because of threats to his security.
The State Department has assured that his presence in this country was the best way to convey the message that the United States are always at the side of the Syrian people.
MM. Chevallier and Ford have done with their consultations in Paris and Washington and return to Syria to resume their job.
