Elections in South Africa: Bouteflika congratulates Jacob Zuma
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika sent Saturday a message of sincere congratulations and wishes for success to Jacob Zuma after the victory of the African National Congress (ANC) in the legislative elections in South Africa, reported the Algerian agency APS.
- “On behalf of the people and the Algerian Government and on my behalf I present my sincere congratulations, to which I add my best wishes for success in your high and noble mission to serve the brother people of South Africa” writes the President Bouteflika.
“The trust that you have to be invested confirms the unwavering commitment of the people of South Africa to consolidate his achievements and reflects his steadfast commitment to continue under your leadership the work of building a democratic, tolerant, just and prosperous society for which he made so many sacrifices,” says the head of the Algerian State.
This latter assures Zuma for his willingness to work in favour of strengthening and expanding our relations of friendship, solidarity, dialogue and cooperation, and open up new horizons at the measure of our common political will and in accordance with the objectives of the African Union”.
The ANC won the elections in South Africa with 65.9% of the vote and its leader Jacob Zuma is guaranteed to be elected president by the new members on May 6.
