Sahel region: Evil alliance against Algeria

The organisation ...El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb... has unveiled the pact maintained by the Governments of the African Sahel countries, like Mali, Libya and the entrance of Burkina Faso in their undeclared war against Algeria by providing logistical and financial support to the ...El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb... through intermediaries.

  • The organization (AQIM) said, but not officially that four of its members held in Mali since February 2008 have been released. These have been delivered in northern Mali at a major transaction led by Malian President Amadou Touré with the ‘El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb.’ The transaction also includes an Algerian named Oussama Merdaçi, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan.

This transaction which was carried out in total discretion and without the knowledge of the Algerian authorities is an evidence of the links maintained by the Algerian terrorist organization, and the military power in Bamako. It also explains what is said there since a dozen years on the relationship between ‘El Qaeda’ and the regime of Mali. The equation that the elements of El Qaeda can activate on Malian territory, in exchange for the assurance of peace in the north and not supporting the movement of the Touareg.

The Algerian authorities had requested the extradition of Oussama Merdaçi since last year, but the answer was always negative because of the significant influence of the Touareg on Malian leaders. Algeria then followed very closely the situation and the successive transactions with the group of ‘Abou Zeid’ that have exceeded the 15 million euros which were shared by all in Gao and Bamako.

in order that Bamako can execute some of the conditions of the ‘El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb,’ the Republic of Burkina Faso has taken the initiative to manage the financial transaction conducted by a Mauritanian businessman known for his relations with President of Burkina Faso. The businessman, named ‘Chafféi’ has been entrusted with the task of transporting Malian money to the ‘El Qaeda’ in northern Mali.

According to well informed sources of Ennahar, the ‘El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb’ has received the sum of 5 million euros for the release of European nationals held for nearly three months. These are the Canadian Robert Fowler and Louis Guay, the swiss Gabriella Greiner and the German Marianne Petzold. The businessmen Abdallah Chafféi from Mauritania, a relative of the President of Burkina Faso and Seif El Islam Kaddafi, have conducted the talks. Chafféi was the crucial intermediate in the process of dialogue with the terrorist organization. According to our sources, President Kaddafi’s son has paid the price of the ransom at the end of negotiations that have taken place for the first time in Burkina Faso.

These transactions which were made at the expense of the Algerian security show that the Sahel region of Africa is becoming hostile to Algeria and that these countries do not hesitate to cause harm to the Algerian people. This leads us to ask questions about the need to conclude agreements of peace in northern Mali and interference in the internal affairs of this country which do not even respect the basic rules of international law and the rules of the United Nations for the fight against terrorism.

Furthermore, it should be noted that European countries, despite the security problems in the Sahel region, have never warned their nationals, on the other hand, they have always led to hype against Algeria warning their citizens of the danger they may face in this country.

This is a momentous setback for Algeria who has always been known for her respect of international agreements and her great care of maintaining friendly relations with Sahelian nations; something went wrong.
