Top executives accused of defamation against Tounsi

The General Directorate of National Security (DSMS) was established as civil part in the case of insult and defamation against the Director General of National Security, Colonel Ali Tounsi and his family as well as against central executives at the general direction of national security. The latter has claimed compensation of about 2 million dinars for the damage caused to the Director General of National Security and his family.

  • The case in which were involved four defendants; the director of central direction of the equipment and secretaries in the same direction. These latter, in addition to an entrepreneur and an owner of a computing office who had written an anonymous letter on behalf of a retired national security employee, to the high civil and military authorities of the country including the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Head of Government as wall as the Minister of Defense, through which they denounce the actions of the Director General of National Security and the directors and central responsible about over expenditures and abuse of power.

    The drafters of the letter cite the costs of the wedding of the son of Colonel Ali Tounsi that were, according to the letter at the expense of the treasury of the Directorate. The latter sought the intervention of the authorities to put an end to these breaches.

    This letter was the cause of the outbreak of the scandal on questionable transactions in which were involved more than 16 defendants including 08 executives from DGSN relating to construction of police center across the country.

    The general secretary of the Central Directorate of National Security D. M., as the main accused who was prosecuted for defamation, acknowledged the fact and said he drafted the letter, but he was surprised by the disappearance of a few pages, and the signature that has been changed, as he said.

    This admission was considered by prosecutors as evidence of his guilt, which required a heavy penalty against him and after appealed at the trial primary court of Hussein Dey.

    On the other hand, the central manager and the other defendants have denied the charges against them. The defense pleaded innocent for lack of evidence of their charge, while the prosecution sought the penalty of six months’ imprisonment against all defendants and 20 thousand dinars fine.
