Terrorism financed by Europe and Canada

According to the director of the daily Ennahar, Mr. Anis Rahmani, the case of European and Canadian hostages in Niger and Mali, then the release of a group of them a week ago, would be a simple cover of foreign financing of the organization ...El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb....

  • The latter states that England is “the only country to refuse to fund terrorism, even if one of its nationals is taken hostage in northern Mali,” and added that “the organization’s request of the Liberation of the former spiritual leader of the GIA, Abu Qatada was a cover to justify the liquidation of the British national” because, he says, “London has learned from its experience with the separatist movement (IRA) not to comply with the requirements of terrorists for ransom.

Mr. Anis Rahmani, in a long interview with Radio Canada International (RCI), released yesterday, said that the case of hostage-taking of Canadian diplomats held that interest for the daily ‘Ennahar’ the belief that the case is linked to international financing of the terrorist organization in Algeria. He added that “We are concerned by what is happening in the Sahel region of Africa because the money paid by European countries and Canada turns into bombs and explosives used against the Algerian people.

The interview of Mr. Rahmani, the host with the RCI has also raised the issue of negotiations with the terrorist organization and the involvement of the Canadian government in funding the organization ‘El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb,’ especially after the visit of the Director of Canadian Intelligence in Bamako and his meeting with Seif El Islam Kaddafi.

According to Anis Rahmani, the only government that has refused to finance the Algerian terrorist organization is the British government. He added that “usually, the terrorist organization receives huge sums of money on every tourist taken hostage. While in this case the hostages are officials including the special envoy of UN Secretary General?”.

At the insistence of the Canadian radio journalist for more details, Mr. Anis Rahmani renewed the fact that except for London, all European countries and Canada have paid large sums of money to the terrorist organization to get their nationals released. He added that the money has been shared by the intermediaries with the terrorist organization, as “all of them are beneficiaries of the game, including the Governments of the Sahelian countries as the Republic of Mali and the Touareg tribes that agree on the principle of sharing the ransoms.

According to him, the negotiations have been made on two aspects, the first was on the exchange of terrorists arrested in Mali since February 2008, among them Algerian Oussama Merdaçi, against citizens who have been released. The Malian government was responsible for implementing this part of the negotiations.

Burkina Faso, meanwhile, took up the second component which is the payment of ransom, made directly through the Mauritanian businessman residing in this country, Abdallah Chafei with Touaregs, to ensure ‘the delivery of the money of the ransom paid by the Libyan institution, led by Seif El Islam Kaddafi, which aims to make diplomatic gains abroad.
