Algeria for the Creation of Arab Observatory for emerging and re-emerging diseases

Algeria suggested the creation of an Arab watchdog for emerging and re-emerging diseases and scourges caused by natural disasters, during an extraordinary meeting held Tuesday, in Riyadh, by Arab Health Ministers Councils' executive bureau.

• Concerning the health surveillance, mainly in the face of the threats of swine flu A (H1N1) virus, Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Said Barkat bemoaned the fact that there is no Arab organization preventing Arab countries to be passive hostages of decisions and recommendations made elsewhere.
