They also approved the creation in France of a common school of training of the military, said Ahmed Aoun, coordinator of the Libyan group 5 +5.

“All these initiatives are part of our commitment to make the Mediterranean a pole of security, stability and development,” said the French Minister of Defense Hervé Morin at the end of the meeting.

The French minister also said that aviation security and maritime cooperation in the Mediterranean were also examined.

Libya has provided in 2008 the rotating chairmanship of the group created in December 2004 and brings together the countries of the northern Mediterranean (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Malta) and the Maghreb (Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya). Malta Sunday took over in 2009.
