Organisations of children of Martyrs... folk organizations or commercial institutions

Algeria is known worldwide as the country of one and a half million of Chouhada (martyrs) who have sacrificed their lives so that Algerians live freely on their land.

  • The Algerian state born after independence did not fail to recognize the rights of these martyrs, giving their children and their widows financial and moral recognition of what they did for their country.

Unfortunately, some of these children have neither honoured the history nor their memory of their parents. Worse, they have made of the martyr of their fathers a commerce register. Not a year passes in Algeria without seeing a new organization raising the banner of the martyrs, claiming to defend the principles of the First November 54, and the rights of children and widows of Chahid.

Not one year passes without seeing a new coordination or federation that claims to defend the rights of the children of Martyrs, as if they were citizens of the first degree. As if the state had failed in its duty towards them.

What is surprising from these organizations is that their role is limited to the filing of sheaves of flowers on the headstones and places of the martyrs and the reading of the Fatiha (verse of the Koran) on the memory of our martyrs at all historic occasions and also spending billions in Zerda (folkloric festival) and festivals.

These organizations have become honour institutions that do not even raise any claim to the government or the ministry.

Moreover, these organizations have become spokespersons of political parties, becoming spoils shared between political parties. National Democratic Rally (RND) won the Mujahideen organization, while the National Liberation Front (FLN) has granted itself the national organization of children of Martyrs. Meanwhile, the Algerian National Front (FNA) has paid itself the national coordination of children of Martyrs, dissenting from the national organization of children of Martyrs.
